None do "free diagnostic". Some do free "code reading" which is not even remotely the same thing. Code reading is just a matter of saying "your engine is running lean" or " you have a random misfire" or whatever the problem is. That by itself tells you almost nothing. Diagnostic is the art and science of finding out WHY you have the particular problem. Parts store guys don't do that. All they can do is suggest parts to replace that MIGHT help with the problem but usually won't.

What auto parts stores do free diagnostic testing? They dont do diagnostic testing. They scan for a code in order to sell you a part.
Proper diagnostics involves more than just finding the code and slapping a part on. The cause of the code must be determined first, THEN replacement of parts, if needed.
If you have Kragen where you live, they will LOAN you a scanner, but you have to do it yourself.
PEP BOYS just MAY scan it if you let them FIX it afterwords. (Don't know for sure)
If you're looking for someone to scan it so YOU can fix it, I think you're out of luck. What auto parts stores do free diagnostic testing?
Autozone, advance, not sure about Napa, Orielly's, checker, or shucks?
