What does "unpainted" mean when you buy auto parts on eBay or any other auto part store?

I'm planning to buy a spoiler for my car, and it's silver. So I'm wondering what "unpainted" means, so if it's naturally silver, then I don't have to spend any money on painting it.What does "unpainted" mean when you buy auto parts on eBay or any other auto part store?
It means it has no paint applied. The colour you get is the colour it came out of the manufacturing plant, maybe just raw metal.

You are right, if the colour is naturally silver, then no paint necessary :-)
Silver may be the base coat as opposed to black, white or rusty red. The overall finished hue of the painted spoiler would depend on the colour of the primed surface. . . . do you have a link for the ad?What does "unpainted" mean when you buy auto parts on eBay or any other auto part store?
un painted means that you have to paint it yourself

as most spoilers are black plastic you will have to paint it to suit the car
It is FLat silver, no shine. Like primerWhat does "unpainted" mean when you buy auto parts on eBay or any other auto part store?
Unpainted means that there is no color paint applied at all. In the case of something metal, it is usually just coated in primer, which is used as a base coat for the paint to stick to, and also adds a level of rust protection for steel parts. Sometimes aluminum parts come totally bare. Primer is a very dull, light grayish color. Unpainted for plastic means just that. No paint. just the color of the plastic, whatever it may be. Unless you're lucky and get a spoiler made of plastic that matches your car color, you're going to have to paint the part!
