Mainly customer service, but then again that just depends on individual store management regardless of franchise.
The biggest difference will be with the 3rd party suppliers that they carry. For instance they typically all carry 1st party parts such as AC Delco, Ford MotorCraft, etc. However they don't all carry the same brand of 3rd party. For instance I've found that Autozone carries the Bosch brand, but does not carry the E3 brand of spark plugs.
In my experience, Autozone does tend to have the better experienced employees. They seem to know their stuff, and they are always more than willing to lend out a tool or to come out to your vehicle, even in the rain. The others, not so much.
Yes, huge difference! These type of stores are basically the same when it comes to selling the major brand items like Fram, STP, Mobil, Mothers, Turtle Wax, etc etc, The huge difference comes with the remanufacter products, like alternators, starters, Basically any thing with a core and the other various parts behind the counter on the shelves. Each has a distributor that that provides them these parts for sale but these store may or may not pool from the same manufacure. Each store has it's own specs for quality
Long store short. The actual manufacture is the difference. I know from working in a alternator and starter factory, we supplied O'reilly with this parts, they send us the cores, we send them a re-man. A big agreement with O'Reilly products would be we could not use bearings from China in their products. Not that china is a bad place, but the failure rate is to high for their standards etc etc. So we would re-man the same units with a german bearing but lets say Autozone didn't care and cost was an issue, they would agree to Chinese bearings, cheaper, same with all the internal parts, from screws to nuts, to pulleys.
Don't qoute me on the specifics as the industry standards have changes of the last 10yrs, but the quality is the difference. You would never know this unless you knew how the part was made. You couldn't ask the counter person as he/she would have no clue!
I do not have an O'Reilly local to me but never heard a bad thing about them.Is there any difference in O'reilly, Autozone, or Advance auto parts stores?
First off, I would bet that all of these stores pay the same average retail pay to their employees.
I constantly shop all three. In my area, the O'reily store will turn brake drums and rotors and the others do not. I know that will vary.
However, a plug for Autozone, they have a Rewards program. For every $20 you spend you get a punch on your card. after 5 punches you get a $20 credit.
If you shop these stores with any regularity, it makes sense to consider Autozone each time for this reason alone.
no real difference other than that.
o'reilly has horrible customer service from my own personal expeirience.
advane auto parts sometimes seem to hire anyone regardless of mechanical knowledge which sometimes result in a difficult time trying to locate specific parts that you are looking for. the up side is that they usually have cheaper parts than the other two and offer military discounts.
Autozone customer service always seem to have very helpful and knowledgable customer service. they don't however always have the best prices but i do believe that they will price-match on somethings. they do have a rewards system that will save you alot of money if you go there often. Is there any difference in O'reilly, Autozone, or Advance auto parts stores?
O'rielly is not bad, I prefer Autozone, but I worked at an Autozone for a little over a year while I was going to Auto school so I know their system. They both sell decent parts, but not really top notch quality, you get what you pay for.
NAPA and CARQUEST are sometimes better parts, but again, you get what you pay for
Not really just the name and the costumer service which SUCKS!!! in o'reilly and advance auto parts....I LOVE THE GUYS FROM AUTOZONE and their prices
The only difference i've noticed is the spelling!!
