Do those cheap headlight restorer kits available at local auto parts stores really work?

You can buy the kits for under $30.00 but I am curious if they are good enough to clear up a 9 year old BMW's hazy headlights?Do those cheap headlight restorer kits available at local auto parts stores really work?
If the hazy lens is plastic, then yes, they work. No matter how good the plastic is, it will yellow over time and with exposure to sunlight. The kits are super fine abrasives, and 'sand' the hazed outer surface of the plastic off.Do those cheap headlight restorer kits available at local auto parts stores really work?
They really do. You can also try cheap toothpaste first if you wanted to save some money. The kits are just mild abrasives that polish the plastic. You could at least test to see if the toothpaste works first so you know if the kit will help.Do those cheap headlight restorer kits available at local auto parts stores really work?
Yes they do.My 1999 Dodge was hit on the drivers side and got a new headlight. The other side was yellow and faded. In a matter of seconds it was buffed to look like new.
